We caught up with them before their floor-stompin' show at Lincoln Hall to discuss their new album, Favorite Waitress, how their songwriting process works, touring life, and much more!

This Week on Thursday Casserole

Cory Chisel and Adriel Harris stopped by the WXAV studios September 17th did an interview and played: My Heart Will Be There, Never Meant To Love You But It's Too Late Now, and Tennessee.








Matt Vasquez and Kelly Winrich of Delta Spirit stopped by the studio June 19th and did an interview and played: Bushwick Blues, St. Francis, and Scarecrow.

Interview: DAWES!

Lookin' for some good ol' American folk rock?
Well look no further with DAWES!!



Evolving from the post-punk influenced Simon Dawes, DAWES hit the map with their debut album North Hills in 2009. They have since been building their loyal fanbase from tours with Delta Spirit, Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons, Deertick, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Josh Ritter and Langhorne Slim. The band consists of singer/guitarist Taylor Goldsmith, drummer Griffin Goldsmith, keyboardist Alex Casnoff and bassist Wylie Gelber.

The Thursday Casserole caught up with the guys before their SOLD OUT SHOW at Lincoln Hall last Wednesday for a brief interview as well as TWO ACCOUSTIC SONGS!!

It's been nearly two years, but L.A.'s Everest (makers of The Casserole's running SONG OF THE YEAR "Let Go") has finally returned to Chicago with full force!!
The Thursday Casserole (along with Monday Souflee's Janine Schaults) were lucky enough to talk to the guys after their mind-blowing opening set for Matt Costa at the Double Door. We sat down with Russell, Eli, Jason and Joel to talk about touring, sophomore slumps and their overall unbreakable group dynamic!

On Thursday (in semi-celebration of the Casserole's 1 year anniversary..) we are super excited to air for your listening pleasure not one, not two, but THREE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS!!!



First
, we spoke to James Graham of Scotland's TWILIGHT SAD!
James talks about their new record which is in the early stages. He discusses their sound and why they make music. And why one certain band they toured with are *Explict*!

Interview: DEAN FERTITA!

Tune into the Thursday Casserole next Thursday, June 24th to hear our EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with DEAN FERTITA!!

We caught up with Dean after his EXPLOSIVE set with The Dead Weather at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival! He told us more about his new solo project: Hello = Fire, the future of The Dead Weather, and a whole lot more!

Dean Fertita has always had a passion for music. He started playing piano at 6 and guitar at 15. He went to highschool and became friends with fellow musician Brendan Benson .

Fertita formed the group the Waxwings in 1997. He was the lead singer and guitar player until the bands demise in 2005. He then moved onto touring with Brendan Benson, which led to him touring with the Raconteurs in 2006.
In 2007, Dean joined Queens of the Stone Age playing guitar and keyboards.

In 2009, Dean was staying at Jack White’s house when Jack Lawrence and Alison Mosshart stopped by. They recorded a 7" and just like that, the Dead Weather was formed.

Now Dean is looking to release his solo project, Hello=Fire, to the U.S. The self-titled album is set for a fall release in 2010. The album was recorded at various studios while Fertita was on tour with Queens of the Stone Age. The album features guest appearances by band members from Queens of the Stone Age, Brendan Benson (who also produced the album) as well as The Afghan Whigs bassist, Michael Horrigan.

Back from Bonnaroo!! HUGE NEWS!

Today on Thursday Casserole is our first show back from Bonnaroo. We had a great time but it was hot as **** (you choose what word). We do have a lot for you today on the show, including HUGE news!

First, we will provide our thoughts on the Bonnaroo experience, playing songs from the artists that we enjoyed the most.

Next, we have a ticket giveaway. We have ONE pair of tickets to see Mates of State, Free Energy, and comedian Todd Barry @ Lincoln Hall on June 22nd! Free Energy have just released their debut album, Stuck on Nothing, last month and have also just released the official video for their newest single (and Casserole Fresh Pick) "Bang Pop." If there is any album you need to listen to to get ready and pumped up for summer, it's this one!! Free Energy brings back that classic guitar sound but with a new sense of charisma and life.





The Casserole had a chance to catch up with founding members Evan Wells, Paul Sprangers, and Scott Wells for an exclusive interview under Chicago's newest venue: The Beauty Bar. They filled us in on all kinds of fun facts and even, side projects?
